About Chris Kane

Founder, Lead Instructor, and Curriculum Developer

Chris has been teaching and mentoring people in some capacity for his entire career. After attending Stanford University, Chris followed his passion for rock climbing first to Yosemite National Park, where he was a member of the renowned Search and Rescue Team, and then to Acadia National Park, where he established Atlantic Climbing School (climbacadia.com) and introduced thousands of people to climbing.  After selling that business in the early 2000s, Chris moved to NYC, where he scored in the 99th percentile on the GMAT while considering options for an MBA.  Instead of pursuing business school, Chris joined the newly formed GMAT company Veritas Prep as its lead instructor and curriculum developer, a position he held for almost 15 years.

With AdvancedGMAT.com, Chris has created the perfect environment for his true calling:  teaching people to think critically, become better problem solvers, and change the way they approach content learning.  He is well known among students for his ability to break down difficult concepts into digestible parts and find elegant solutions to complex problems.   In the end, Chris loves to help people through difficult and uncomfortable endeavors, whether it is climbing a 1000 ft. cliff in Yosemite or achieving that elusive 700+ on the GMAT.

After 15 years in NYC and San Francisco, Chris now lives back in Bar Harbor, Maine with his black lab, Baxter.  He remains an avid climber, runner, and skier who spends as much time in the mountains as possible when not teaching.
